Institute of Banking personnel and selection (IBPS) is inviting applications from Graduates for officer and assistant roles.


About IBPS Exam :
IBPS Exam is conducted every year in the month of September, It is single exam for 56 Regional Rural Banks across the nation,

Number of Vacancies: 8898 for office assistant and 5124 Vacancies for officer Grade 1

Mode of selection

  • Preliminary exam
  • Main exam
  • Interview
Preliminary exam will be conducted in the month of September , Main exam and Interviews will be in the month of November as per speculation

Syllabus and pattern for Exams

Preliminary exam

For officer assistant role
  • Reasoning - 40M, 40 Questions
  • Numerical ability - 40M, 40 Questions
  • Total Time - 45 Minutes

For officer scale 1 role
  • Reasoning - 40M, 40 Questions
  • Quantitative aptitude- 40M, 40 Questions
  • Total Time - 45 Minutes
Main examination

For Both roles
  • Reasoning- 40M, 50 Questions
  • Numerical Ability - 40M, 50 Questions
  • General awareness - 40M, 40 Questions
  • Computer knowledge - 40M, 20 Questions
  • English/Hindi - 40M, 40 Questions

Single level examination for officer level 2,3 roles
  • Reasoning - 40M, 50 Questions
  • Quantitative aptitude and data interpretation - 40M, 50 Questions
  • Financial awareness - 40M, 40 Questions
  • Computer knowledge - 40M, 20 Questions
  • English/Hindi - 40M, 40 Questions
  • Professional knowledge* - 40M, 40 Questions
**Professional knowledge is only for specialist cadre role

All questions will be multiple choice questions, the questions will be available both in Hindi and English.

Marking scheme: 1M for right answer, -0.25M for wrong answers, No marks if the questions are unattended.

Cut off scores: There are no cut off scores, selection will be purely relative

Examination centre: Across India

There will also be pre examination training( PET)  provided to the interested candidates.

Interviews are conducted only for officer roles

Compensation: Depends on the bank, anywhere from 30- 70k/month

Application fee
  • 100 Rupees for SC/ST/PWD candidates
  • 600 Rupees for others
  • Nationality: Indian
  • Age as on 01.07.2017: 21-40 for officer scale 3, 21-32 for officer scale 2, 18-30 for officer scale 1, 18-28 for office assistant, Age relaxation will be there

Educational qualification
  • Office assistant and officer scale 1: Bachelor's degree, proficiency in local language, working knowledge of computer
  • Officer scale 2 : Bachelor's degree with 50% aggregate, 2 years of experience as on officer in bank or financial institution
  • Officer scale 2 Specialist : Bachelor's degree in EC,CS or IS with 50% aggregate with 1 or 2 year experience as chartered accountant/ law officer/ treasury manager/ marketing officer/ agricultural officer
  • Officer scale 3: Bachelor's degree with 50% aggregate, minimum of 5 years experience as an officer in bank/financial institution.
Important dates
  • Online registration: 24th July 2017 to 14th August 2017
  • Download of call letters: August 2017
  • Preliminary examination: 9th, 10th and 16th September for officer scale 1, 17th, 23rd and 24th September for officer assistant role
  • Results of preliminary examination: October 2017
  • Main or single examination: 5th November 2017 for officer role and 12th November for officer assistant role.
  • Interview for officer role: December 2017.
